about // Philip Slein Gallery
In 2003 the Philip Slein Gallery was opened on Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis by co-owners Philip Slein and Tom Bussmann. Committed to showing the kind of work they like, by both regional and national artists, Phil and Tom share an interest in the new figurative artists from New York, the old figurative artists from Chicago, local regionalists, underground comic book artists, etc. Despite having a reputation for representing edgy figurative artists like Jamie Adams, Phyllis Bramson, Tony Fitzpatrick, Catherine Howe, Tom Huck, Fred Stonehouse; regionalists like Joe Jones, Joseph Vorst and Arthur Osver; underground artists like R. Crumb, Gary Panter and Frank Stack; the Philip Slein Gallery also is committed to showing the work of the finest abstract artists in the country, both painters and sculptors.
